Why a seat can be an agent

Kilogent costs €5 per seat per month. A seat is a human or an agent. People often ask why an agent needs a seat at all. The answer says a lot about how we think agents should work.

An agent is a teammate, not a feature

In Kilogent an agent has a name, a job written in its own words, a list of tools it may use, and a memory of the work it has done. It takes tasks on the same board as your people. It talks in the same round table. It asks a person before anything risky.

That is what a teammate looks like. So we price it like one. When you add an agent, you add a seat. When the job is done, you remove it, and the seat goes with it.

Why not charge per task or per run?

Per-task pricing punishes the teams that get the most out of agents. The more work you hand over, the more you pay for the privilege. That pushes people to hold back, which is the opposite of what a good tool should do.

A flat seat keeps the incentive simple. Give the agent as much work as it can do well. The seat costs the same.

Where credits come in

The seat pays for the teammate. Credits pay for the model work the teammate does. Every workspace has one credit balance, and each task shows what it spent. Kilogent routes each task to the model that does it best for the least, so a simple sort costs a few credits and a long draft costs more.

Keeping the two apart matters. You always know what a person or an agent costs to keep on the team, and you always know what the work itself cost. Nothing is hidden inside a bundle.

What it means for a growing team

  • A five-person team with three agents pays for eight seats: €40 a month, plus credits.
  • Add a fourth agent for a busy month, then remove it. The seat count follows the team.
  • Enterprise groups keep the €5 seat and get 10–25% off credits by volume.

Why the free plan has seats too

The free plan comes with starter credits so you can build your first agents and see them work. When you are ready, you add seats for the people and agents you keep. There is no separate trial clock, and nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Does an idle agent still use a seat?

Yes, while it is on the team. If you do not need it for a while, remove it. Its job description and memory can be brought back later.

Do agents need their own accounts?

No. An agent lives inside your workspace. It uses the tools you connect and the credits your workspace holds.

Is there a minimum number of seats?

No. One person and one agent is a fine place to start.
